MAMMA CHALLENGE - MAPS

There are some advantages to getting in on this challenge early in the week - if only to get your idea in before anyone else does it!!

The theme this week is 'MAPS'. This was the second idea I had and I wasn't exactly sure it was going to work - it is sort of based on an old (and rather crude)joke I was told many years ago by an elderly and usually rather severe lady professor who used to work at the Hammersmith in London, it always makes me think of her. This is a slightly refined version added to a very simple stamped and collaged ATC - after last week's marathon decided I had to keep myself in check!

MAMMA CHALLENGE - PLAYING CARDS

This week's challenge was playing cards so have been playing all week with an idea of using the cards to make an ATC 'house of cards' and at the last possible moment suddenly saw how it could all come together. I have to admit I do find weekly challenges quite daunting because it often takes me such a long time to decide what I am going to do!! However it is not a bad discipline to work within some constraints now and again.

Anyhow, these are the images for my 'entry' to the playing card swap and yes, they do all fit together and then unfold to make a little house. I suppose if I didn't make things so complicated it wouldn't take so long. Thing is, I didn't think that any of the finished cards stood up individually(no pun intended) but the whole thing together is OK.

My thinking went through all the different puns and sayings I could think of to do with cards but in the end I went for a sort of 'love triangle/camelot' theme and used the Jack, Queen, King and Joker to make the four walls of the house. Well, I get it even if noone else does!!

Holiday art

As I think I said yesterday, I forgot to take much art stuff on holiday so had tomake do with just a pencil and paper. I have sorted some out to add to my Daily Art Card gallery but most of them are pretty boring but are posted on my flickr gallery. These two are my favourites - sketches I made of my son sleeping (he actually makes quite a good model, he doesn't move much andlikes laying around). I surprised myself withthese - maybe there is an artist in here somewhere trying to get out?

Here I am again - and the winner is.....

Have just got back from a glorious 2 weeks in sunny Cap Salou. Am pretty tanned (well sort of tomato coloured actually) and very chilled. My daughter and her frind discovered clubbing in to the early hours so they are almost as white as when they went and my goth son could hardly be enticed into the sunlight the whole fortnight. Unfortunately due to the last minute scramble to get out the door I actually forgot to take any art stuff with me but my son had a pad and pencils so I've done a lot of sketching. However, no time to load any of it now (as you can imagine there are a few photos to sort as well) and I'm just not in the mood to spend hours at the pc tonight.

Anyhow, I did actually do the draw for my little slide mailer and he is on his way to.........

Ange, or Agnes the Red. Hope you like him Ange, will get it in the post Mon or Weds.
And here of course is the inside, because somebody asked.
