What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #723

Morning desires. Like Julia there has been a lack of crafting activity on my desk as I continue with my sorting - yesterday I went through my stamps and labelled all the baskets. Some are stored by designer, some by category but at least I know have half a chance of finding something.

My desk will hopefully see a little action today. I am prepping a male card with cars for my craft group. Here you can see it set up high, I thought we would stamp a background using versamark. Haven’t got any further than that!

If you look across at the other desk you will see I am using my iPad once again. My beloved but ancient pc is in pieces as it refused to load up at the end of last week. A rescue operation is in hand but I am not optimistic. My biggest worry is that I won’t be able to get back my address list (hubby assures me he can get to my photos) which, for reasons best known to my younger self, is stored as an Excel spreadsheet. Losing my graphics programme and associated digital files would be a pain in the proverbial but not terribly awful. Hey ho. It is what it is.

I have already exhausted my patience with this iPad so that’s it from me.

Have a great week, love n hugs, Cindyxx

Oh Cindy, I do hope you get back important stuff on your old PC. Did you not back it up? Saying that my computer keeps saying that it is a long time since I did a back up - just hope DH did one for me, he usually does.
Versamark background - is that going to be left, used Perfect Pearls or what? Interesting to see the finished product. Good luck.
Hope the sun shines for you and you warm up a bit.
Hugs, Neet 4 xx

I like those cars. Sounds like you are working hard for that car theme for your craft group. I hope the card goes over well, too.

I am sorry to read about your PC. I hope all goes well and you can get both your photos and your spreadsheet off the old one. Happy WOYWW from # 1.

You asked about the sewn book. I am so sorry I led you astray. Hard back books can be GLUED to the spine or SEWED into the spine. If you aren't sure what you are looking for, the glued ones can be a bit misleading. That's why you must follow the signatures (number of pages put together to form a set) until you read the middle of the first set. If you see stitches (stitched threads) on the center page, you are safe to use it as an altered book. If not, it is glued and will fall apart once you start adding elements or altering the pages. I hope that helps, Cindy. If not, check out this post: https://alteredbooklover.blogspot.com/2012/02/so-you-want-to-get-started-making.html It will show you what I tried to write above.

oh, dear, I hope you manage to recover everything! After Bella walked on the keyboard of my old laptop, trashing it, I save to a cloud drive now.
Enjoy your card making and happy WOYWW

Hi Cindy. I'm having a quick trip round now I'm back from the show. Good luck at getting everything back. Something like this happened to me recently but luckily I have a hubby who is pretty good at retrieving stuff and a friend who has a hubby who is even better so I know it can be done. Wishing you a happy belated woyww, Angela x11x

Tech is brilliant when it works but so frustrating when it doesn't. Hope you get it sorted. x x Jo

Oh so sorry to hear of your tech troubles! I am lucky that the Hubster is really good about doing back-ups on my Mac fairly regularly. It's funny that he keeps the backups on an external drive, inside a glove, in the car. He says no point in making a back up then leaving it in the house, so yeah. Glove in car. I do hope you get your address list back! I would not want to miss out on my yearly Xmas card! So selfish LOL!Have fun with your cards and stay cool!
Happy (late, cause I was knitting) WOYWW!

Hoping you can recover your files Cindy. When mine crashed I hadn’t backed up for ages and lost a lot of stuff. Now I am much more on the ball - er when did I last do a back up?🤣. Happy WOYWW. Angela #14

Oh sorry to hear about the PC, hope it can be salvaged in some way. DH is the master of PC stuff here, getting him a new mega screen for his birthday a week Sunday and DS is coming to visit too. Really need to make him a card too but lacking inspiration and flagging in this heat. Hugs BJ#6

Gawd Cindy, I'm so close to losing my ancient PC that I've even invested in a external hard drive to get a ch8ld to download my photos onto...hadn't even thought of the lifetime old address book...good call, thanks!! Loving the up high view, it somehow makes the desk and the iPad look really small, not just regular sizes!! Am sure the male car cards will go down well, we just came back from a weekend away for a wedding and as many classic cars as possible were there....took a lot of men out of the party equation...they just stood around in the car park!!
