What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #255

Sorry, it has to be said – where did that week go?

But to business. My current timetable means that I usually tidy up on a Tuesday as I am expecting a visitor, leading to a rather uninteresting photo and a totally unfounded perception that I am a tidy crafter so it’s nice to be able to show you a desk with a project or two on it.

So what have we got? My notebook where I am writing my list for today, don’t suppose I’ll get that lot done but it’s good to have a plan. A mini egg tub – sadly empty now. Can you see my ‘glue’ box to the right? I have covered it – I’m enjoying my new craft room so much I am on a mission to prettify some of my more mundane and recycled storage – the heroes box and the scissor tub are next on my list.

There are four ‘cards’ or cards to be on my desk – I have been experimenting with my dies. I was  intrigued when a tv presenter kept saying ‘and when you just emboss with this die…’. and it’s true, you can just emboss with a die. Different effect but quite neat. They have been inked and mica’d, one on Kraft one on white card.

You can just about see my hanging tub made by LLJ down to the left and that tag at the back is to remind me to pack it up and post it off – sorry Glennis! I did warn you I might forget. The room is slowly getting its final tweaks. I have added a fold up table so that I can sit and chat with a visitor (or just have more work space depending how you look at it lol). I can even see me using my sewing machine on that table and it is much easier to use a die cutting machine when there are no space restrictions at the back that stop you getting your plates out. Less frustration = happier crafter.

I LOVE your new workspace Cindy, it's fab! Your daughter will just have to have your old space if she has to move back home! I wouldn't be giving that up, lol!! Stunning embossed cards with dies, I tried that once with just a light emboss and the dies still cur through the card in places, perhaps I need thicker card.

Lol at your comment on my blog, Cindy, for which many thanks! I am thinking of making clothes and soft furnishings out of the teabags if I end up with too many lol lol!! In the meantime, I've got lots to experiment with, and I and I want to do an art journal page, and make some bags. (Tea bags? Lol!)

Don't worry, I'm not wearing myself out! I am actually quite frustrated that I have to "waste" so much time resting in order to keep going!

Your new room is as awesome as mine!! Isn't it great having the space to work, which certainly reduces the frustration levels, and it means you can have things out all the time which means you actually use them, rather than thinking you can't be bothered because it's too much hassle to get it out and find a space for them. For me this applies particularly to the sewing machine, and I'm really looking forward to getting to grips with my beautiful new machine once I'm up to date with other projects.

Like you, I have a mission to "pretty up" my basic storage. I have a lot of small robust cardboard boxes that I get my face creams in online, but they are not very interesting to look at. One day, one day...

Your two cards are absolutely stunning. They have a wonderful vintage Victorian look about them. What a great technique. Unfortunately I only have about 2 sets of dies which I got when I first started, and I don't really use them.

Happy WOYWW,

Wow! Beautiful cards! I have not tried to emboss with my die cuts yet. Fun seeing what's on your desk and in your stamp room! #80Angie

It looks amazing, I do that too, cover old boxes to use as storage! Pretty stuff is good I say. Just popping in to say hi as no desk from me. Not been too great after going to 2 footy matches in 3 days so desk is empty. Take care Zo xx

Hi Cindy,
What a fabulous room you have there! Love that card, the Kraft one.
I'm in Australia, and yes, the postage from here is horrendous too, so I understand if not too many want to send all this way. I don't send a lot o/s so I don't mind sending a few ATCs when it comes to a WOYWW anniversary :)
Thanks for stopping by earlier,

Hi Cindy, your room is looking very comfortable and crafty and as you've said you're "prettying" things up and making it "your space". The die embossing looks great I have done this but not to create the center piece...lovely Cheers and have a great week Robyn#18

Your space looks tidy, and your desk looks productive. What more could any of us want! And I agree with you on proper room for the machines - makes like much easier. Thanks for stopping by my place. Susanne #76 this week

Now I am envious of your new room. Wish I had enough of a space to include a table for sewing. Wonder if I dare encroach on Chas's study for that purpose? Mmm .. oh Cindy you have given me food for thought.
Like the two embossed only cards you have made. I had forgotten all about that technique.
Hugs, Neet 27 xx (thanks for your earlier visit to me)
