CardMaking 101 #3 (KISS)

Just a quick update on my Cardmaking 101 sessions. Well the male themed cards in never really took off and for various reasons my friend and I haven’t got together for over 6 weeks for card making. But we had a go the other night and the theme was babies. Well we managed a few (cards not babies, those days are long gone) but weren’t too enamoured of the bits for this in our huge free paper pack so that was that.

IMG_1362[1]

All the papers are double sided (although sometimes they have embellishments on rather than another pattern) so while my friend was making up the card sets I had prepared I knocked this one up. (The flower was from my stash – you may recognise the style from yesterday)

She liked it so much we sat and cut out some more for the next session. Nice to be ahead of the game for once, Roll on session 4!!!!

What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday…. #269

Wednesday again?

Right here’s my desk, truly this is how I left it last night, only a little mindful of the fact I was going to photograph it today.

IMG_1364[1]

Centre stage are some flowers I put together last night so they would be ready to use today. Don’t you just love the way that pink button has gotten stuck inside the other one? Neat.

IMG_1365[1]

The tea cup card is also drying, it has glossy accents on it. I try to do this last thing as I have a knack of putting things down on top of drying glue, glitter and glossy accents. The desk can be completely empty but that’s where I put stuff. I really cannot tell you how many times.

I have got out some stamps for a project or two I have in mind for today – I am fed up with kit card making, I need to stamp. And paint – in fact that weird shaped thing has been painted already. And I have two tags out because today is the day I will do my Timmy tag. If I get all that done this will have been a good week – so far it has been productive but not very creatively satisfying. Of course perhaps I shouldn’t have chosen the day I am having a manicure to be the day I start inking and painting……

Anyhoo, an explanation of WOYWW can be found here. I will be about most of the day but busy, and if the sun shines the garden may call but I hope to get round and visit quite  a few of you today. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Cards, cards, cards…..

Had a nice day yesterday. Had cleared the decks ready for a crafty day with a friend but she cried off sick (just as well given the state of the roads round here after the rain – yep, Northolt was on the news yesterday!!). So I just went for it, mainly clearing up ‘works in progress’ and odd bits of kit that were half finished. Not the most artistic cards in the world, just matting and layering really, but just fine for my MacMillan Day which is now two months away. Warning: picture heavy post!!

Errr… a lot of Gorjuss girls!! Well i bought a kit, not really sure why except I like the images. Unfortunately they never seem to be appropriate to send anyone – buit hopefully they will sell at the MacMillan Day.

See ya soon.

What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #

Not an inspiring one this time, even though I have been a little creative this week. EVERY WEDNESDAY!!IMG_1339[1]Believe it or not this is the tidy desk. A different angle from last week to disguise that really not much has changed except that there is more on it. The purple box  is cards for MacMillan, the second one, so that’s coming along nicely. Just peeking out from under is a card challenge from Julia that never got done – could it actually have been from last year’s Crop? My big box of stamps. Scissors, as always. A mess. But I am going to get a bit done this morning whilst  it’s cool, unless I spend the whole time at the pc. This afternoon I can feel a sunbed with my name on it calling and the beginning of the next GOT book. Can’t wait, except soon I will have read them all.

What’s WOYWW? go here to find out. Say hi, and join in why don’t ya. Happy WOYWW!!

Just a couple of quickies…

Really these two came together just when I was  playing with my new swirly die. The papers are a bit ‘in your face’ but I like them.

IMG_1333

IMG_1335

This second one was all ‘bits’. The card had already been folded but abandoned, the spotty bit just fitted the space, and I was playing around with the thin stripey one and the body form as it reminded me a bit of ‘ticking’. I do love it when a project comes together (without too much planning lol). Have a good Tuesday. Cindyxx

Animal Magic for Fantasy Stampers

Our Blog Logo

It’s challenge week again at Fantasy Stampers and this time round we would like to see your projects featuring ANIMALS (but not birds, insects or butterflies)

I don’t make a lot of animal type cards, either cutesy or realistic, so this was a bit of a challenge for me! Fortunately my sister is having a birthday this week, and as she is fondly known in the family as crazy cat lady, it wasn’t a big stretch to add a cute kitty to her card.

IMG_1328

I love dotty card, ad this background one is from Anna Marie Designs – I thought the dotty design just worked with that little dotty bow on kitty’s head. Sue Wilson dies for flowers and bow. A bit of promarker colouring and that’s it.Hope you like. Don’t forget to check out the Fantasy Stamper’s blog to see more DT inspiration and add your link.

Roses for Rosemary…

IMG_1320

A friend of mine called Rosemary is celebrating her 50th this month so I had to make her a special card. I decided to go with an exploding box card. With lots of roses of course!

Well here it is reasonably flat ready to go in a box-elope.

I used Craftwork Cards Country Garden papers for the backings. I made all the roses from scraps except the diddiest ones which were from my stash. I spritzed and scrunched them before diecutting and rolling to give a shabbier look.

Great fun, love these cards, even if I do tend to over egg them!!

I shall leave you with a couple more photos.

What’s On Your Workdesk? Wednesday# 26??

Morning deskers, how you diddling? I’m feeling fine, the sun is shining, everyone is gainfully employed (for which read I have the house to myself), and from this week I NO LONGER WORK WEDNESDAYS!! So I guess you'll have to put up with me. (GRIN)

IMG_1326[1]

Here’s my desk this fine morning. Centre stage a card I was putting together last night which I decided really could wait until morning. A half done tag I thought I might finish off to send to a friend. Multiple glue and scissor options as always. Top right, a bow die and cute stamp set that should have been put away as that  card is done (shhh can’t show it yet, secret squirrel). Bottom right a new die and stamp set (I have wanted those butterflies for so long) that I have left out in case I put it away and forget I have it (has happened) plus my neat new ball thingy’s for flower shaping. Be prepared to  be amazed when I get the hang of it. Top left various scraps that have become detached from their various packaging and need to get put away. Quite organised.

I tend to work at this desk in the evening because the other one faces a huge window which isn’t very inspiring when it’s dark out. This is the other one after last nights crafting. Just to prove I am not a neat freak.

Colours of Summer – A Try It On Tuesday Challenge and a Giveaway

Yep its a twofer. Because I can.Tuesday Taggers Admin (Grin)

Right firstly this post is to introduce my DT project for Try It On Tuesday. Pop on over to the blog to join in and see the rest of the inspiration from the DT. You can do any kind of project, but it must follow the theme, and you have a fortnight to link up.

Sunglasses alert, it is a little bright!!

IMG_1315

IMG_1317

I had a really nice week last week and spent a lot of time sitting in the garden just revelling in how gorgeous it is sometimes just to sit and ‘be’ which is why I thought the chipboard quote I used on this tag was particularly appropriate. (Oops just noticed you can’t quite see all the text). The tag itself is quite a big one, made of chipboard so very sturdy. The other thing I was doing in the garden was a spot of needlefelting – for reasons I really don’t understand I had the urge to open my box of rovings (haven’t been touched for 5 years) and have a go at making these felted flowers. I handfelted each heart shaped petal using a metal mould and then sewed them together. IMO They didn’t turn out half bad. I refrained from grunging it up (hard) and tried to keep it fresh and bright.

IMG_1317 So secondly I want to let you know that this will be the ‘giveaway’ for this month’s Art Draw. Usual rules apply, leave a comment on this post by 9.00 pm on Thursday 31st July to be included in the draw. International players welcome. Feel free to link from your own blogs, let me know you have and I will put you in the draw twice.

That’s all, don’t forget to add your own colourful summer entries to the Try It On Tuesday Blog. See ya!!.

CLEAN AND SIMPLE FOR FANTASY STAMPERS

FANTASY STAMPERSIt’s time for a new Challenge at Fantasy Stampers and this fortnight we are looking for your clean and simple stamping projects.

We are also still looking for Guest Designers so if you are interested pop on over  to theblog to find out more and check out the inspiration from the rest of the DT.

Well, I must confess that clean and simple isn’t my favourite style – not because I don’t like it but because as a fairly messy crafter it gives me less opportunity to hide my mucky mistakes! !

Still I had a go.

IMG_1312[1]

I masked off the card and then inked the centre panel with Broken China and Peacock Feather distress inks. (are they actually different? I am beginning to wonder). A little spritz with water and some mica for a bit of subtle sparkle and then overstamped in Black Archival. The main stamp is from a Paper Artsy set, the sentiment from my stash of word stamps.

And that’s it. Because I am a glutton for punishment I shall be along next Saturday with some mid-challenge inspiration, accompanied by our first GD. See ya!

What’s On Your Work Desk? Wednesday

No idea what number, I have been awol in Portugal, back nearly a week now but still not in any kind of routine. So happy Wednesday deskers, I hear there have been some shennanigans with our illustrious leader feeling a tad poorly, so will be popping over to Stamping Ground to leave some lurve as soon as I have finished here. And that’s where you need to to get the info, the gen, the whotnot and find out what I am going on about.

To business, a desk:

IMG_1310[1]

What can I say, not a lot going on, still playing with those flowers, I am going to do something with mache flower pots. Some mags, my phone, a necklace to put away and a hoover. Yes I am a domestic goddess, I have even cleaned both the bathrooms already today. Haven’t managed in here though judging by the state of the floor. But I am not going to be working on it  until later, I’m going here.

IMG_1311[1]

Like Julia I have just had a holiday and the garden is a bit of a jungle – what have you all been doing while we’ve been away?  It’s beautiful out there, so I am off into the garden for an hour or so while it is cool and I’ll be back here for a catch up with you all before glamming myself up and heading out for lunch with some girlies. Then probably an hour in the garden with a book before my bestie comes over for a cardmaking 101 class this evening. No men, they are all at a beer festival.

Have a nice day – I shall!!
