Hi! Been AWOL again. Sometimes I feel like a bemused participant in my own life, it just seems to carry on around me......Well, that's January done and I'm on countdown to 3 weeks in the Canaries, Sahara dust or no Sahara dust. Here's the desk.

Awful photography this week. Helen will be rolling her eyes.  I went to my new craft club on Tuesday afternoon and forgot to take my project folder. Duh, kind of essential. But it didn't matter because the lady who runs it brought out three huge bags of craft stuff and said help yourself for a donation. Oh my I could not stop helping myself!! The stuff on the desk is part of it - I am taking that to my craft club on Friday to see if they want anything as she needs to get rid of it. So many stamps!! The usual thing, an elderly lady who can no longer craft but forgot to stop buying (I do realise I could be talking about  myself here).

Not done much crafting this week as I have been pretty busy with entertaining, the theatre, an exhibition and of course babysitting little Lionel. It's not letting up either as I have hubby's birthday Thursday, family over at the w/e, my own craft club on Friday, a pub night and then sometime on Monday I have to pack before leaving at silly o'clock to go on holiday. 

I am trying to finish this today for a swap - not entirely sure where it's going, I feel I'm mixing my metaphors a bit never mind my media. Think I'll brave the lace drawer next. Anyway that's all for now, can't wait to catch up with you all.

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #763

Late on parade today. Bright but not a lot of sun out so think it will be a chilly one. Feel for those of you further North - guess it's worse for you!! Still I have my thermal vest on and my FUR LINED LEGGINGS (why didn't I buy 2 pairs?) so I am nice and cozy in my craft room. Do have to go out later - we are taking Lionel to the dentist as he chipped his front tooth yesterday - he only has 3 and a half and he's already damaged one. My daughter is not happy as she has a bit of thing with dentists - bad experiences when younger, ingrown teeth, endless orthodontistry to rectify.  Asked recently about her own teeth because they have moved - been told that the orthodontistry she had when young has essentially knackered her teeth because it's weakened the roots. Aaargh! I swear nobody ever said that was a risk. 

Anyway, I digress, the desk.  

Nothing to see here really, I have found a little local craft group on Tuesday afternoons and basically this is the detritus from unpacking my bag. (I didn't know what to expect so I overpacked). It was OK, the ladies are all nice though I may have lowered the average age by a year or two.  I think I will go again, I know two of the other ladies, one comes to my group, it gets me out of the house and you can be focussed on a little project for a couple of hours without having to actually organise anything.  The black basket is my WIP box, I took something out of there to do and had a quick weed while I was there. Looking quite manageable compared to a year ago.

I have managed to finish off a few more of those 'Christmas Cluster' cards. Doing well, only another 50 or so cards to go........... May be a late visit from me but should get round you all.

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #762

Well, if every week of this year is gonna that fast, it'll be 2025 before we know it. 

So, here's the desk yesterday evening, sorry about the bad lighting.

And yes. it's still Christmas.

No these are not finished cards. I have a huge amount of little 'bits' that I have had for more years than I care to remember and frankly I can't see the wood for the Christmas trees. So I am making clusters, essentially throwing some shapes, little embellies, tags, words etc together and sticking it on a card. It's all scraps. The trick is not to think about it too much.

Here's some that are finished that I did at the weekend.

I 'taught'  a class last Friday and we made fractured or faux shutter cards. My ladies loved it and they've all gone home and made more, which to me is the sign of a successful class. Here are some of my samples.

Very simple and a good way to do something with some of those papers you don't know what to do with. 

Keeping it short(ish) this week and hoping not to get distracted so I can get round to everyone and finish those clusters today.

Sorry I missed the 'Twixtmas' edition, I didn't even realise it was Wednesday till lunchtime. A quiet but fun time was had in the Ashplant household but I have to admit I'm ready for the New Year.

Well, not ready as in prepared but as in, need a change!!

Day 3 of the New Year and I don't have any resolutions for you. However I read something the other day about list making - you know who you are - and the fact that whilst it is satisfying to cross things off those to do lists there is always the nagging regret about the  things that don't get done. So I am introducing you to  the concept of the Ta-da!! list. This is where you  write down and celebrate the things you did do!! A subtle change of viewpoint but possibly an important one. (I'm still going to have to jot some things down somewhere - I have a terrible memory!! - but they won't necessarily have a schedule). Feeling energised already. 😁

Here is my  desk this week, I am in full Christmas mode still as this is when I make all my cards so as not to have that hanging over me at the end of the year. I have used a NBU background stamp which while not overtly Christmassy makes me think of Christmas!! Quite a few designs and these are largely quite flat because I will pick my overseas cards from these. 

Just because I can,  few photos of the star of the show this Christmas.
