What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday # 660

Hello all. Total disaster visiting last week, I was fine first thing then nasty bad back decided to come and play again. So a few days of painkillers, gentle exercise, massage and rest ensued with very little crafting or social media.

Starting to catch up this week and now my desk is utter chaos. Hope to resolve this mess by the end of the day. Good job I'm not working to any kind of schedule. Christmas will have to wait a few more days!!

I did manage to finish the card for my neighbour - though to say I was underwhelmed with the result would be an overstatement. Or is that a double negative?

Yesterday I think was one of the greyest, coldest, most miserable days of the winter. An absolutely horrible day. However, I've already managed to get out today, and the sky is showing promise of lifting clouds and a bit of blue. Thank goodness for that. And.. there are snowdrops in the garden. Big smiles.

Hope you all have a lovely week and will try to get round everyone in the next day or so as I'm not sure I'll make it next week - hubby's birthday on Tuesday (heavens need to make a card) and we're off to Oxford for a couple of days. He becomes a real pensioner this year - when did we get so old!!

Happy WOYWW, stay safe, stay well, love n hugs Cindy xx

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday#659

Morning deskers, very late on parade today so a quick one from me. Have had a busy few days socially and had to be at the GPs this morning at 8.15 (what was I thinking?) for a routine blood test. Feel like it's gonna be a pottering kind of day and a nice walk in the sunshine at some stage.

Here's my desk:-

Pretty clear!! Christmas got tidied up as I had a friend cardmaking yesterday. I made this little chap and started on a card for my neighbour who is 90 this week. I think I'll just do some birthday cards then back on the Christmas marathon from Friday.

So, why am I showing you my desk? Well it's our weekly Wednesday Blog Hop - WOYWW. Here's the link to the one responsible, the lovely Julia at Stamping Ground - pop on over and join in, see what it's all about and have a go yourself.

Have a great week, stay well, stay safe, love n hugs Cindy xx

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #658

Here we are again. Thank goodness for Wednesdays, something to mark the passing of the week. Somehow I managed to delete google from my phone last night. Without thinking about the consequences I changed the pw and set it up again. Of course I was then locked out of blogger on my pc. Far too stressful for early morning!!

The challenge in my craft room at the moment is to wade through all the Christmas stuff. This first pic is just a small amount of the 'didn't quite get finished one year' stuff. Amongst it I found a set of 3 cards ready to go - must have been prepped for a class which makes them from at least Nov 2019 and I suspect considerably earlier. Anyhow, when I find these bits all cut out and ready to go it's a lot quicker than starting from scratch.

Here's my desk with the original design on the left and one of this year's efforts 0n the right. Two more to go. I have just noticed that that deer only has 3 legs. It's kinda bothering me now.......

The 4-square card topper is from the card I made for my son this year. Unbelievable I know but my children don't tend to treasure my works of art. So I took the topper off and will re-mat it onto another card for someone else this year. Do you recycle  your Christmas cards? I must admit I no longer do anything with 'shop' cards - they go straight in the recycling. (I used to cut them up for ATCs but I already have more than I'll ever use). Handmade cards I receive I like to keep for a year or so, (my favourites longer than that!!) but after a while I do get rid of them but try and recycle any parts that I can to make a new card.

Finding the grey days difficult but there is the odd one that lifts your spirit. I'm no Helen, but thought this  bed in the local park looked lovely in the sunshine last Sunday. The sky!!

While I'm here, this is the finished card that was on my desk last week.

No it's not Wednesday

Just popping in to show you have I am getting on with my Christmas cards.  It's all about getting out the NBUs, using up bits already cut out and generally clearing out Christmas stash.

First I had this layered stamp set that makes a holly background. There are several different ways to go with this But I decided to go with all three stamps using different coloured inks. So I ended up with several similar but not identical background pieces.

I decided I wanted to use this big believe die which I have had for 3 years and never used. I felt it needed the rest of the sentiment (believe in what?) so as I have several stamps that say ' believe in in the magic of  Christmas' I found one I could remove the 'Believe' from. Layered up I think this one came out quite well.

A few more ideas - I hadn't used the flag dies, the large sentiment or the holey-scallop-edger die before so ticked a few boxes there.

I asked for this hexagon die by Pink Fresh for Christmas but not particularly for christmas if you know what I mean. Not entirely sure why now. These 2 cards caused the most anguish because  the background pieces were not quite big enough for the die (doh) and then I had terrible trouble matching papers and deciding on the frame colour. In the end I cut it out in several colours/patterns. Of course now I have loads of the hexagons to use. Aaargh, I'm supposed to be using stuff up not creating more!! However, even though these got terribly close to the bin at times I quite like how they turned out.

Still a mountain of stash to sort. I could be here some time.....

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #657

Goodness the days are going by so fast, we are already nearly at the end of the first week of the New Year!!

Like so many others I have had a house of Covid since Boxing Day. Everyone except me tested positive at some point. Now negative of course and most will be back to work this week. Nobody got much of a Christmas break!! How I managed to stay Covid free I really don't know but I guess it won't last.

So I have been busy in my craft room - well there wasn't much else I could do without mingling with the plague ridden (TBH nobody has been that ill). Here is my desk late Tuesday, when I broke off from making Christmas cards to do a quick commission. Hopefully it will be a z fold card with a train on for a 3 year old. My desk is not currently functioning as an island as I scooted it back so I could have a blow up bed on the floor whilst trying to keep away from the germs. (Slept surprisingly well but getting up in the morning from the floor was no fun).

Christmas cards? - yes you heard right. For the last few years I have devoted January to making as many Crimbo cards as I can manage, having a leisurely play with my stash. I find it a much more pleasurable experience to do it now rather than wait till nearer the time and I'm still  inspired. Also no pressure. I am currently reviewing my Christmas stash which is, I admit, pretty huge, but I love Christmas images of all kinds, even cute lol.  Some of it needs to go, I've had it so long I no longer know why I have it - what am I waiting for?

I haven't really got into my stride yet as I am still trying to deal with all the 'bits' and ideas that were put away uncompleted last year - the intention is to use it or bin it, it just can't stay for another year.

Birthday and Christmas craft goody wise were a bit of a bust as it all got so overshadowed so I have treated myself to a couple of new things in the sales (and also not) which may arrive today. But once I've topped up my glue that's no more craft purchases until March at least. Fingers crossed I can do it. I certainly have enough unopened things to play with!!

While I'm here, I just wanted to say thank you for all your lovely messages the other week - it really lifted my spirits. You are a lovely lot.
