Oh crikey it's Wednesday again? Even under lockdown I can't seem to stem the furious pace of time. Apologies to those of you suffering loneliness and general fed upedness in the face of this long period of isolation - I know its really tough. But somehow the days are not dragging for me and, whilst I have no particular desire to knock myself out trying to complete it, the 'to do' list is growing rather then shrinking. My personal experience of this situation aside, I do hope you are well, safe and happy - if not, do reach out, I can be a sympathetic ear even if I can't offer much in the way of practical help.
So, to the desk.
I am going to do a super quick video for my craft group about glue gun texture. You can see my prep
pieces on my desk as it's my next task for today. It's a bit of a bodge job as I am using watercolour to add colour because it's still on my desk and I can't find my black paint so I'm having to improvise with some not-really-black metallic paint. The card in the centre is my finished sample so it kinda turned out OK. You will note that whilst I have a large desk, I am in fact working in a six inch square. Some things never change.
Now, a quick shout out to some of my more nerdy visitors. I have an old iphone, 6s I believe. It takes OK videos. BUT, when I upload to FB or Insta it turns my landscape recording into a portrait upload. Now this is not the end of the world and there are plenty of videos out there that are the same. I have tried all sorts of things to remedy this including a couple of apps but that's not really the problem and I have taken to recording portrait style. But it's a niggle because I don't understand why. It would actually be a relief to be told - oh you can't sort that with that old phone because then I would know I haven't missed something blindingly obvious. So, any thoughts?
Meanwhile I am spending a lot of time in the garden which is coming along nicely. When I say spending time in the garden I do of course mean sitting in a chair reading. Occasionally when I'm sitting I write out lists of plants and bulbs to order. Someone has to see the bigger picture. Once a day I might adopt a Gertrude Jekyll type stance with watering can and floppy hat and tour the space with my full time gardener tagging along behind so I can dish out instructions. Works for me.
So that's me for another week. Stay home, stay safe, stay well.

Cool ideas with the glue gun Cindy. I might have to try them out myself some time (adds to to do list lol). Ending up in a 6" space seems a common crafting situation. Sorry I can't be of help with the iPhone as I have no experience with Apple products. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #6
Looks like you are keeping incredibly busy and creative with your glue and watercolour demonstration. Sorry I wish I could help with your iPhone issue. The only suggestion is to try youTube..... there is always some Nerdy type that has posted a demonstration on how to fix anything. All the best and stay safe.

Hi Cindy. Any chance I can borrow your fulltime gardener??? I seem to be losing control when it comes to the garden - it's just too big for me really - but needs must at the moment. I'm with you - I'm loving this lockdown. Apart from not being able to go visit my family... But the quiet, and the slower pace - wonderful!

I too have an iPhone - it might even be older than yours - i refuse to pay for the latest models. Not used it for videoing so can't help sorry . I would you tube it though as I am sure there is someone out there who can help. Have fun with your class . Take Care and stay safe . Soojay#16

Sorry Cindy, not a clue on the phone - I can just about operate mine and wondered this morning why my picture was not up on a conference type call - I then found a camera at the top of the screen with a line through it - took ten minutes and a lot of help from others.
Your class sounds interesting and I do like the look of the finished card. Are you on You Tube and if so what is your name on there?
Love the thoughts of you with the big straw hat and voluminous kind of painterly smock strolling around your garden. Enjoy!

My weekdays fly by as always as I am busy with the day job, but the weekends can drag...although I have been reading a lot and certainly not doing much housework.... Hope you get your phone figured out. Maybe Google it? Google did help me find out why my roses have brown tipped petals. Anyway.... Great little texture pieces.

I’m no help with the phone, I actually think mine is older than yours, pretty sure it’s a 5. What I can tell you is that I’ve never knowingly taken video on it, so not encountered that problem. Although I have taken hundreds of pictures of the same thing by mistakenly holding the button down for too long!!! I am delighted that the garden is working so well for you, mine is a fraction of the size of yours and I am that gardener...which means it’s no more than tidy. I hope your gardener totally respects your skill in plant selection and management!! That six inch space on your desk looks great, and very familiar. I haven’t done anything vaguely inky or messy for ages. I think the glue gun textures are great..and I re-read your post and you don’t mention burning yourself at all. I’m obviously still a glue gun movie, the damn thing actually frightens me now!!
Lol at your comment about your gardening style, Cindy - I can fully identify with that! My style of gardening absolutely! I work in an “advisory capacity” haha! Perhaps my hubby would be more convinced if I got myself a floppy hat and grabbed a watering can... Your glue gun texture is great. It’s amazing how much you can do with glue guns with a bit of imagination. I’ve seen people on YouTube making stencils out of it, as well. Hope the class goes well. I used to end up with the 6 inch square situation too, but the Tim Holtz glass media mat does seem to help with that! I’ve never been a tidy worker though, neither in the studio nor in the kitchen! Blocking is what you do when you’ve finished your knitting. You pin it out to the correct dimensions and damp it down, and allow it to dry. This way, it sets the stitches and the size where they are supposed to be, and evens out any irregularities in the knitting. Not everybody bothers to do this, but it does make for a much better finish. It also stops the stocking stitch from curling up.
My hubby and I have a theory about why cats sit on things that are often too small. We think they like boundaries. If there’s a loop of cable on the floor, they will sit in it. They will often squash into boxes that are too small (kitties and boxes is another unexplained phenomenon!) - I found a fabulous picture online once, showing a cat with its two front paws squashed into the tiniest of cardboard boxes!! We think it’s to do with territory. But then, we always agree, “There’s no accounting for kitties.” We have both lived with them all our lives, and shared several generations of them throughout our married life of nearly 34 years, and we never get any further when it comes to understanding them! That’s probably one reason why they are so endlessly fascinating. Dogs seem far less complicated!
I’m so glad you liked my little drawings, and also the wraps. I love your comment about “enjoying rather than enduring” the lockdown situation! I must remember that one. Through the various things that life has thrown at me health-wise, I have learnt very much to adopt this philosophy. It provides a better outcome, and also makes one a happier person, and not someone obnoxious to be around, who moans and complains all the time! Pity parties only ever have a guest list of one!

Those examples look nice, I've been tempted to buy me a glue gun but haven't still... can't figure out yet if I do 'need it' or that it's just 'want...'(and probably end up not using it at all...) Love how you've used the glue gun, brilliant idea. Phones are a bad subject in this house. Went to an EE shop to buy an S20 as I wasn't sure if they had come out, he sold me an A20 which is awful and when I went back to complain, I found out that I was locked into a two year contract! Never shop there again!!
I hope you can get yours sorted, it's so annoying.

Hi Cindy, sorry I too can not help you with the video problem, I can just about use my phone let alone record on it hee hee.. Good to see some glue gin fun on your workdesk, it's a great tool for mark making but i'm very lazy with mine now and tend to just use a glue pencil to those marks..takes longer to dry though..I'm glad to hear you are getting on in this crisis, making way in the garden and enjoying the peace and security we get from our outdoor surroundings. Wish we'd got the things needed to get a move on with our garden work but due to circumstances we've sadly not so i'll just plod on with the inside until all my paint has gone. I love that idea for using a glue gun in your art. I use it only to adhere to things and as I mentioned last week, I tend to have more on me than the actual projects!! I need to get better at it. Thanks for stopping by. The weather is going to be nice enough tomorrow for me to begin weeding my garden. I will take an audiobook and have my first crack at it. I love being in my garden. Hi Cindy, glue gun texting sounds intriguing. I'm just picturing you gently wandering around the garden dishing out instructions - that sounds so like me. I usually start of with "I've been thinking about what WE want in the garden, and what YOU need to do" to my dear hubby. I've ordered a potting shed so I can start growing things and pottering about properly. Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier. Hi Cindy - I understand your sentiments about your garden LOL - that's me to a T! The gardener being my husband hehe, I just enjoy the view and do the occasional odd job. I love, love, love you hot glue textures - I think I can see how they are built up and might have a go myself! Glad to hear you're enjoying the lockdown and find ways to keep yourself busy. I must say I'm busier too than I am normally - with everything going on at the same time plus having to come up with meal options three times a day - instead of just once! Love the glue gun texture may have to have a play at that too and yes I totally get your comment about not getting the list done etc-I have been working longer hours than usual (which I am totally lucky I get that) BUT that means at the end of a long shift I am no good for much else, thank goodness for the allotment!
