What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday - #570

First apologies - I didn't get all the way round last week, something distracted me. A nice afternoon? I certainly didn't go anywhere. I meant to get back, but somehow the week just flew past again. Never mind a slower pace, my days still seem to speed by in a blur.

I hope you are well or recovering if you haven't been, and in a good place this beautiful morning. Do get in touch if you need a chat, or a boost, or a moan - heaven knows we all do at one time or another.

I am pleased to report that WIP Box no 1 is completed. Here is my desk, with all the cards I have made so far, around 80, ready to be matched up with envelopes, bagged and put away. It's quite an impressive result but of course now I have a storage issue of a different kind. Can't please some people can you?

That was a bit of a marathon, so I am going to have a break from WIPs for a couple of days - although I might check out the one I have planned for our anniversary post. This might be a good point to add a link to our leader the wonderful Julia at Stamping Ground where you can join in this weekly blog hop and check out the details.

Other positive things of note this week include:
-  my mother managed a skype call. I pretty much just saw the top of her head but still.
- I worked out how to upload a landscape video to FB etc. (Thanks for all the suggestions, the answer is record via an app called horizon).
- I bagged a supermarket delivery slot.
- I received 2 great pieces of happy mail.
-  hubby put my mosaic on the wall (12 months. That's all I'm saying).
- my daughter came home to us on Sunday. Her partner, who she was isolating with, returned to work on Monday. Technically she is less exposed being with us, who don't go anywhere. More to the point, she's offered to do the cooking. Downside - The prosecco store is depleted already.

We should have been flying off to Edinburgh on Friday for my DIL to be's hen do. This is possibly the only thing that I have really been upset about missing, not for myself as some of the planned activities (cocktail making aside) would have been a mental and physical challenge - but I do of course feel for her and of course the wedding itself, although not till September, is still far from a done deal.  However, I expect we'll do something virtual over the weekend - not sure what yet.

Sorry for the long post, I always intend to be brief but never seem to stick to that. In my defence, I don't get much chance to chat these days......

Happy WOYWW. Stay home if you can, stay safe, stay well. xx

Morning Cindy. Hey, that wasn't a long post! I loved reading it. I can understand you being so saddened for your future DiL - many are going through the loss of dates they have so long looked forward to. My family and I were all off to Pembrokeshire in three weeks - a big family holiday to celebrate my forthcoming BIG birthday - no way will we be there - I think the borders are definitely closed! Oh well - just have to celebrate next year, and pretend in the meantime that the big date hasn't happened!!
Well done on all those cards. That's just brilliant - Hmmm... how to store things... yes I see a problem as we all get cracking on our WIPs!
You can always send me an email if you get bored of your own company - I'll most definitely reply... fairly rapidly!
Take care of yourselves. Stay safe. God bless.

I love your posts! In fact your list of achievements made me laugh out loud, especially the mosaic (he'll probably expect brownie points for that!!) Also your mum's Skype call, bless her, hopefully you'll see a bit more of her next time xx. Lovely to see your cards - what are you going to do for the WOYWW Anniversary Challenge? I truly don't have any UFOs (Julia calls me a Finisher) so am wracking the old grey matter.....
Hugs and keep safe,

Wow Cindy, 80 WIPs finished in a week. I am impressed. Glad your daughter is home with you now. I often only see the top of my Dad's head when we face time lol. I have a Zoom meeting tonight with my sister, some of our friends from school and our former music teacher. We had the first one last week and it was good to catch up. Nice getting hold of a delivery! Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #5

Hi Cindy, that's a great achievement- 80 WIPs finished! Your list did make me giggle - talking to the top of your mum's head, and the prosecco stock being depleted- but well worth it to have your daughter home with you. My daughter's wedding is booked for October, so fingers crossed it will go ahead, and your son's wedding in September. Have a lovely week and stay safe and well, Heather xx #20

I always enjoy reading your posts, Cindy. Loved your list of positives! We all need to count our blessings and find the silver linings in the lockdown, because there are plenty! Sorry you've got to miss the hen do. Your collection of cards is impressive, and beautiful too! Well done!

Thank you for your visit. We sat outside to have a cup of tea this afternoon but not under the umbrella because it wasn't that hot. I am hoping the weather will get warmer again soon! I'm so glad you like my projects this week. The recipient of the card liked it very much, I'm pleased to say. I don't use vast quantities of herbs but it's lovely having them there and being able to pluck a variety to pop in salads etc. I suppose I use parsley the most but that one seems to be the slowest to get going! I have a lot of pots of basil on the windowsill in the kitchen but that doesn't survive outside - the slugs eat it all!

Happy WOYWW,

Wow, 80 cards - that is some achievement! Congratulations, Well Done and all that! They look lovely too.
I had to smile at your list - several points resonated with me:
when talking to my friend in America I always spoke to the light fitting, never to her.
despite being extremely vulnerable my slot is two weeks away
I got happy mail (see my blog),
and I would also deplete your Prosecco store if I moved in (or even visited).
Sorry to hear about your dil - fingers crossed the wedding goes ahead and hope you didn't all lose money for the hen weekend.
Thanks for the uploads on #Cheers
Hope you stay safe and well
Hugs, Neet 4 xx

That's a lot of cards! You've been busy! We recently did a Zoom video party for my dad. Most had their cameras showing their faces.
We're too rural to get deliveries but since I'm still working I do quick trips for groceries.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

My good friend, that wasn’t a long post! It was a jolly good one though, and I loved your list of positives. YOU are a positive. Made me laugh about the Mosaic. That old joke ‘ He said he’d do it, so there’s no need to remind him every six months’ popped straight into my head. Last weekend we were moving stuff from old kitchen to new, and I asked him to adjust/move/fix something. He said he’d do it next. It still isn’t done and when I ask him again, he’ll say I should have reminded him. and I’ll say that asking a second time on the same day is considered nagging and so we go on....! Bit jealous that your girl has come home, what a nice treat. Would give a lot to have a cook!! I think you win at the UFO thing for sure, you not only finished them but they are all fab! Storage is a second hobby my husband says, and I have to admit, I do like a nice basket to house my finished cards!! Shame about the hen do, but it give you more time to do all the exercises that will make you agile and give you stamina for the activities. OMG.

I forgot to say on the post about the Anniversary, if you’re going to take part in the UFO challenge for week 572, don’t forget to take a ‘before’ photo to go with the ‘progress’ or ‘after’ photos for the post!

Hi Cindy, what an amazing number of cards you made. I don’t think it was a long post, but I understand because sometimes I think I have run too much :). I have conversations with my sister and find I am looking at the ceiling or a coffee cup as she never sits still! x Angela #30

Good Morning Cindy, Sometimes it's hard to get around to even a few. I think since Mother's passing I am not about chat with great news. Just depends on my attitude that day I guess.
Thanks for the visit. WOW you have been busy with cards and they are adorable. I totally get the photo hanging... we had an issue with house keys, sometime ago he changed the locks, gave me what he thought was new keys. This past week we went for a ride, he was going to wash the car and dropped me off at our front door. I could not get in ! Long story short new keys were in a jar as old keys and he gave me his old keys I am good at figuring out puzzles, but that was a real joke Glad to find out before I'd be dropped by a friend and get stuck locked out.
You all stay safe, Skype isn't much for me lately, 3 girls are small and don't take much time, their mother's too busy and my son is working OverTime so I just dream about them !!! Enjoy your chef !

Hi Cindy
I am so late getting round this week, the nice weather was my distraction, that's all I'm saying.
Blimey, you have been busy. I had lots of good intentions of stocking up my card supplies but I've been too busy just playing.
It's such a shame about big events having to be postponed, my nephews wedding in June has had to be rearranged for next May but I think now it's been done they are happier about it. The uncertainty of will it won't it was worse. I hope your September wedding happens, fingers crossed.
We have been putting together packs of info to post out to the Sept starters at school, they should come in for some play days before the summer hols but don't think that will happen, although it does look like we might get some back after half term after tonight's news.
Hope you have had a good week

Sorry for my (very) late visit, time seems to speed even more in lockdown! The amount of cards on your table is impressive, wowzah! I do hope that in September, things will be back to normal (sort of, anyway) I fear for a second 'wave' here in the Netherlands as a lot of people go outside and the cities overcrowded here last weekend... I saw on tv you over in the UK have to stay in lockdown a little longer. Hang in there dear!
Have a nice week and stay safe! Love from Holland. Marit #25
